The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) is passing the torch of its popular Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) to the newly formed Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF). Longtime youth shooting sports coach Dr. Bill Christy is heading up the new foundation. The new foundation will be responsible for all aspects of SCTP, including participant registration, coaches, state coordinators, state and national championships, promotion, communications, Web sites, public relations and growth strategies. A record 2,100 young shooters from 35 states competed in Sparta, Ill., at the 2008 SCTP National Championships. Below are results from the big event at the World Shooting & Recreational Complex. Selections to the 2008 Junior Olympic Development Camp have been announced. The camp, to be held at the Olympic Training Facility in Colorado Springs, will run Oct. 5-12 for coaches and Oct. 8-12 for athletes. See This Year's JODC Selections

Former SCTP shooters Vincent Hancock and Corey Cogdell put in very strong performances at the 2008 Olympics. Hancock won gold in skeet, while Cogdell won bronze in women's trap.
