Bristlecone Shooting, Training and Retail Center Earns NSSF’s Five-Star Range Rating
NEWTOWN, Conn. — The National Shooting Sports Foundation® (NSSF®), the firearms industry trade association, is pleased to announce that it has awarded Bristlecone Shooting, Training and Retail Center the organization’s top Five-Star rating for range excellence. Owned by Bryan and Jacquelyn Clark and located in Lakewood, Colorado, a thriving suburb of Denver, the facility was founded in January 2015.
“This is the land of shooters and hunters, and they have lots of places to choose from to target practice and hone their skills,” said Zach Snow, NSSF Director, Range Services. “The amount of customer traffic at Bristlecone shows just how much of an impact the store and range have made on their community. We are more than pleased to award them our full Five-Star rating for range excellence.”
Open seven days a week, Bristlecone’s 14 25-yard lanes accommodate handguns, rifles and shotguns. The lanes are divided across two bays, a six-lane bay for fixed-position target practice and an eight-lane range designed for tactical training. Enhanced by a top-of-the-line ventilation system and automated target retrieval setups (including computer-controlled turning targets on the tactical range), Bristlecone’s range is supported by an extensive line of rental firearms, including full-autos and suppressed guns, two virtual training simulators and an extensive class listing that satisfies both new and expert shooters, with seminar topics ranging from women-only and co-ed pistol introduction to low-light defensive handgun training. The Class III retailer does a booming business in firearms of all types, thanks to its well-trained staff members who make it a point to deliver personalized service to every customer who walks through the doors.
“We are happy to have created an environment where everyone from beginners to experienced shooters can feel comfortable and find something of interest,” said co-owner Jacquelyn Clark. “Our staff and their dedication to safety and customer service are the main reasons our customers and members enjoy being here and continue to return. Bryan and I are so thankful we’ve had this opportunity to create a different type of indoor shooting, training and retail culture, and that we had the support of an organization like the NSSF to help us achieve success.”
NSSF’s highly respected Star-Rating Range Program works to encourage ranges of all sizes and locations to excel. Applying for rating requires answering a comprehensive questionnaire and business owner self-evaluation of the facilities, staff, community outreach and other criteria. Ranges that appear to meet the criteria for Four- or Five-Star rating receive an on-site evaluation by NSSF staff. NSSF member ranges that meet a Three-Star rating are recognized for being a part of the Star-Rating range family and are provided guidance to improve their facilities and achieve the higher two ratings.
