First Hunt Foundation Signs on as Official +ONE Partner

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The First Hunt Foundation (FHF) has signed on as an official partner of +ONE®, a community-driven mentorship initiative led by NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association. This partnership highlights a shared commitment to recruiting and mentoring new hunters, ensuring the future of hunting and outdoor traditions for generations to come.

Founded to “Keep the Hunting Heritage Alive,” FHF provides new hunters with hands-on training in firearm safety, ethical hunting practices and outdoor survival skills. The foundation also emphasizes critical life skills, including responsibility, respect for nature and leadership development, through positive mentorship experiences.

+ONE Partner - First Hun Foundation“First Hunt Foundation has mentors scattered across all 50 states that are passionate about getting new hunters trained and out hunting, said Rick Brazell, President of the First Hunt Foundation. We are excited to partner with NSSF’s +ONE program as both our missions align perfectly in keeping our hunting heritage alive.”

The +ONE Movement was created in response to research showing millions of Americans want to learn more about hunting and target shooting. Through mentorship and outreach efforts, the initiative encourages current participants to share their knowledge and help new hunters and shooters experience safe and enjoyable outdoor opportunities.

A key challenge facing the future of hunting is the decline in mentorship, with fewer families passing down knowledge and traditions. Programs offered by +ONE Partners like the First Hunt Foundation directly address this challenge by helping individuals of all ages explore hunting in a safe and structured environment.

“Organizations like the First Hunt Foundation are at the heart of what +ONE is all about—making mentorship accessible to everyone interested in hunting and shooting sports,” said Justin Morrissey, NSSF’s +ONE Liason. “Together, we’re creating pathways for people to safely learn, connect with the outdoors and develop a lifelong passion for conservation and hunting traditions.”

Through this partnership, the First Hunt Foundation will work closely with NSSF and the +ONE Movement to expand its impact, collaborating with educators, youth organizations and families to foster meaningful outdoor experiences. These mentorship programs not only ensure future participation in hunting but also promote conservation awareness and respect for wildlife, cornerstones of responsible outdoor stewardship.

NSSF invites hunters, shooters and outdoor enthusiasts to take the +ONE Pledge and help introduce someone new to the joys of the outdoors.
